Have you found yourself getting taken advantage of on the regular? If so that means you’re a giver or just a really kind hearted person. But if you’re the type of person that finds yourself constantly being at the better end of the stick you’re the taker.
Unfortunately for me I find myself being a giver. It’s not a bad thing to be a giver. The only time it proves not to be such a good thing is when you’re giving to the wrong person. When that happens, it’s like you can giving and give until you have nothing and that person will still feel like you haven’t done your best to keep them satisfied. When that happens there’s a bigger problem then just satisfaction. For the people like me that are givers, please remember that you deserve happiness too. I understand that you may love your spouse, but don’t for get to love yourself and take care of you first. The sad truth is if you’re not taking care of yourself; How could you expect someone to do for you what you’re not willing to do for you?
For the takers; I get that some of you don’t realize that is the role you play. I need you to start noticing. I know that sometimes it’s not all your fault why the giver gets taken advantage of. Most times we know we’re being played, but we keep giving because it feel good to see you happy, regardless of how long it’ll last. Givers just love to give because they love the warmth it brings.
I also found out recently another name for a giver is people pleaser. I hate that term, but it’s true. We break our backs trying to please others because we want that love and acceptance. The said truth is, not everyone is going to really love you and accept you, it’s a tough world out here. You have to make sure you watch out for yourself, because you have other people that prey on the weak. If your the type of person that gets fulfillment from giving and doing for others, I’m talking about you. Many times you don’t realize that they’re playing you until it’s too late. That’s if they’re good at hiding their intentions. That’s why you have to be on guard, because not everyone is going to be as open and honest as you are in most cases.
This was kind of a letter to myself, but also to you’ll that have experienced or are experiencing someone trying to play your intelligence because of your big heart. Remember your you’re own best friend. No one is going to take care of you like you take care of you.
